As another incredible semester comes to an end, the Delta Gamma Beta Xi chapter has so many accomplishments to look back on! Keep reading to learn about the achievements that showcase the true essence of the "do good" sisterhood.
Recruitment
We kicked off the semester strong with a preparation week for fall formal recruitment. Our chapter was guided by a remarkable Evaluating Committee (EVC) which included Abby Ignatowski as VP Membership, Ella Woehlke as President, Maeve Lopus as Director of Primary Recruitment, Mia Anthony as Director of COB, and Leah Doemer as Director of Recruitment Records. EVC dedicated immense effort to prepare our chapter for fall recruitment. They planned a variety of workshops throughout 5 days where we learned everything recruitment-related! EVC also incorporated fun themes for each day which included: I Love DG, Barbie, Camp DG, Denim, and Funny T-Shirt Day. The highlight was our venture to Thayer's Corner Nature Area in Northville, Michigan, transforming our "Camp DG" day into a memorable experience. It was a great experience to not only expand our knowledge of recruitment, but we strengthened our bonds among sisters. From crafting scrapbooks to playing capture the flag and enjoying snow cones, every moment added a special touch to our sisterhood. A heartfelt thank you goes out to this year's EVC; their guidance has been so valuable, and we can't imagine navigating this path without them!
The recruitment journey unfolded over six days, providing us with the opportunity to connect with many remarkable individuals. Throughout the process, our chapter passionately conveyed our love for DG by sharing the importance of our sisterhood, philanthropy, and values. As the curtains closed on recruitment, we joyously extended a warm welcome to 50 exceptional new members, embracing them into the Beta Xi chapter at Michigan State University!
Bid Day
On October 9th, we welcomed our new members to 365 N Harrison with a Bid Day celebration! This event would not be possible without our amazing VP Member Education: Gigi Goldberg and Director of New Members: Elli Leonard. The theme for this year's Bid Day was "Sweet Home Delta Gamma" which entailed country/cowgirl attire. New members were greeted at the house with personalized cowgirl hat-shaped posters featuring their names. Also, they had the opportunity to decorate their own cowgirl hat. Gigi and Elli decorated the house with beautiful posters, balloon arches, hay bales, and other decorations that matched the theme. To top it off, our sister, Sophie Crossley spun the tunes, making Bid Day 2023 an absolutely unforgettable experience! We had the best day meeting our Fall '23 Member Class <3.
Sisterhoods
This semester our Director of Sisterhoods, Sheridan Ruppel planned many enjoyable sisterhood events. Many sisters loved the Build a Bear sisterhood where we had the chance to stuff bears and dress them in a Delta Gamma t-shirt. We even had the opportunity to twin with our bears by wearing matching t-shirts! Other sisterhood events included: First Day of School, Lansing Lugnuts Baseball Game, Tea Party, Customizing Bid Day Apparel, MSU sports games, and Halloween! Thank you Sheridan for making these events so incredible and strengthening the bonds within our sisterhood.
Anchor Games
Our main philanthropy this semester was Anchor Splash. This event consisted of teams playing spike ball, corn hole, tug of war, and more! Throughout the semester, we are proud to share that we have raised over $7,000 to Service for Sight — Delta Gamma's philanthropy that supports the five schools founded by Delta Gammas for children who are visually impaired and other North American organizations that promote sight preservation and conservation. Shoutout to our Foundation Team: Maya Guilick as VP Foundation, Directors of Anchor Week as Abbey Basile and Grace Scamell, and Director of Fundraising as Gabby Dobernick for all of your hard work in planning a successful event! Congrats Beta for taking home the trophy!
