Whether in Southern California or Ireland, or the Eiffel Tower in Paris, or even on the streets of Italy, you're likely to find one of our DG sisters! Many sisters have spent their summer across the country or even the world for study abroad trips, visiting family, or just to have a getaway with their sisters.
Opportunities like these allow us not only to get a well-rounded education, but immerse ourselves in different cultures around the world.

“Studying abroad has been such an amazing experience so far! I am studying abroad for French and being immersed within the language throughout this trip has taught me so many things! I cannot wait for the rest of this summer!” - Gigi G, MC ‘21
Traveling is even better with our sisters <3

“There are not enough words to describe the amazing opportunities that studying abroad in Italy has allowed me to experience. I have made friendships and memories that will last a lifetime, and have grown individually through learning how to navigate a new area. What has been even more rewarding is being able to study abroad with my sisters, Sarah McNally and Mary Kotsonis - taking classes together in our bucket-list destination is nothing short of amazing. Thanks to this program, Rome will always hold a special place in my heart.” - Gia Economopoulos, MC ‘21
Gia, Sarah, and Mary are studying at John
Cabot University: Rome, Italy
Both Maeve Lopus and Libby Miller had the opportunity to study abroad this summer in London through the Communicative Disorders and Sciences Program!

“It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! My eyes were opened to the copious amounts of opportunity that are available within the speech pathology field and this experience showed me how much of an impact I can have on someone's life through my future career. Throughout my time in London I was able to visit Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, and many other fascinating places. I also took a weekend trip to Scotland which was a nice change in scenery, going from the busy city life of London to the rolling hills and scenic views of Scotland. I would say that my experience was also super special because I was able to go with one of my DG sisters, Maeve. This was a very exciting experience for the both of us and I’m glad we were able to go through it together.” - Libby M, MC ‘20

“We had a group of 18 students and 3 professors and I enjoyed getting to know each and everyone of them! I went into it not just wanting to study abroad and get out of the country for the first time, but also wanting to gain experience in my field as a speech language pathologist. Not many people realize how much you can do as an SLP, and I didn’t until I went on this trip! I learned that there are so many different fields of speech pathology such as stuttering support, deaf research, mental health needs, cleft palate speech,
and even testing speech during a craniotomy (removal of a brain tumor)!! I am so thankful that I got to go on this trip and not only further my career in speech pathology, but also see the amazing sights in London. The second part of Delta Gamma’s Article II is to promote their educational and cultural interests - with the support from my sisters I applied for this trip and got to experience it with a sister as well, Libby Miller! If you have the chance to study abroad…. DO IT!!! It is life changing and something I will cherish for the rest of my life!” - Maeve L, MC ‘20
Even if not traveling to study, traveling the world can provide sisters with valuable cultural insights and experiences to bring back home to Beta Xi.

“This summer I am living in Dublin, Ireland for 2 months while working for the Irish Whiskey Museum. After studying abroad last summer I really wanted to spend another summer abroad but also was torn because I wanted to have an internship experience. While working I mainly do social media and marketing but have dabbled in reception and assisting on tours! Living in Dublin has also been a new experience as well and I have been enjoying immersing myself in a new culture. I have even been on some day trips to see the beautiful sites Ireland has to offer.” - Maya G, MC ‘20.
Beta Xi puts a strong emphasis on learning, both educationally and culturally. This comes from Article II, which helps outline our values - you can learn more about it on our Instagram!
And although we are incredibly proud of our sisters for both traveling the world and furthering their educational and cultural perspectives, we can't wait to see everyone at 365 N. Harrison for our recruitment preparation week this August!
Check out our social media pages (@deltagammamsu on Instagram & TikTok) to follow along with our sisters and see what they're up to while away!
